Pioneer AVH-P5000DVD 7" In-Dash Double-DIN DVD Multimedia AV Receiver

Customer Review: great (for 1999)
Yes, it plays mp3, dvds, etc... but the user interface is SO UGLY... really, it's like taken from the movie Tron. And it's important to say that i love Tron. Come on, it's not the year 1999. The iPod controls are so old it's barly imposible to find a song it you have a big library. Another flaw is that there is no outside screen, so u ALWAYS have to have the ugly screen out, and trust me, you get sick of it. I wouldn't recomend it. Look for one you can read while closed, and ith a UI at least a little bit nice.

Customer Review: Fits the bill
This is a great TV for close up viewing. Fits in our kitchen area just right. Dose'nt have the best backlite so some channel programs don't show up very good but the sharpness and color are great. If the backlite were better, I'd say you could'nt buy a better 19" TV. I also have a 26" Sharp so I can compare. The Sharp Aquos is with out a doubt of better quality, no way you could call it junkie. The extra remote is nice but we dont use it very much. Sound is good and there are more then enough inputs. The manual makes setup and operation of the TV easy. Ordering from Amazon was easy and shipping was quick. The price was right so I would give this TV 5 stars except for the backlite.
Customer Review: Very poor audio
The very poor audio output from this TV is in Sharp (pun intended) contrast to the picture quality, fit and finish. I normally watch my small TV while seated at my dining table. The TV is on the table. With factory settings, the maximum audio output is so low it is below my normal listening volume when I am seated across from it. Audio output was totally useless when viewed from my kitchen area while cooking and cleaning up. I opened the settings menu and boosted the treble and bass to their maximum settings to boost audio output. That helped a little but the output is still below acceptable limits by a lot. I should not have to listen to the TV at the maximum volume setting of 60. I do not listen loud and I am not hard of hearing. Sharp spent more money and attention to the kitchen timer/clock remote than they did to audio output and they did not even include RCA audio outputs so the TV could be connected to an external analog amplifier or preamplifier. I also have a 46" Sharp Aquos LC-46D62U and the audio output is equally dismal. I get around that by watching it through my stereo system. Apparently many (maybe all) Sharp TVs are lacking in audio performance. I will never buy another Sharp product. This television is stunning appearance but tragically flawed. Don't be fooled by a pretty face.

Customer Review: Took a while to fiquire it out
I was not prepared for the menus GUI, cinema settings, Hdmi ... etc. It was tough start because I had a new 52' Sony TV,blue ray player, new speakers with the receiver. I am a novice with this but eventually I figured it all out. It's a very impressive system for the cost and I'm learning more about it every day!
Customer Review: Amazing Reciever
Sony STR-DA2400ES A/V Receiver I bought this receiver to replace my Denon AVR-1707 which was an amazing 5.1 receiver as well, but I needed to upgrade to compliment my PS3 and 42" TV. So I needed a receiver with HDMI inputs and I'll tell you. The GUI on this is amazingly easy to work with and the amp in it does a great job on its own(for those without a pre-amp). The ability to adjust between PLXII, Nueral-THX, and Neo6 for non-digital signals to get a great simulated surround was very well developed with this receiver. I highly recommend this receiver for anyone who wants to step up to a great high end receiver. It won't ever compare to a Krel or a Sunfire but for the price its the best I can see using.

Sony RM-AX4000A Home Theater Remote Control

The RM-AX4000A remote control comes with Sony's easy to setup PC software. It's the perfect remote control for today's home AV system, consolidating multiple remote controls into one. Exciting and convenient, this remote features an XPRESS Function for executing a series of commands, and enabling you to operate several AV components just by pressing a single key. The RM-AX4000A also controls up to 16 components, and with the Sync-up Key, synchronizing operational status on remote and alternate components is done with ease. Also featuring Tivo/DVR functionality and an illuminated LCD touch screen allows you to highlight and view your choices. Being in the driver's seat of your living room sofa is made easy with the RM-AX4000A Home Theatre Remote Control from Sony.
Customer Review: Least user friendly remote imaginable
We bought this thinking that we could use it to replace the 4 other remotes (3 of them Sony) and use only 1. We were able to program only the basic (on/off and channel switching, etc.) and then needed to go back to the original remotes for everything else. If Sony doesn't make it easy to program SONY products, I can't imagine what it's like to try to program equipment from other manufacturers. It is actually easier to just use the original remotes - all 4 of them then to try to read the paled out screen of the universal and then to have to go back to the original remotes anyway to fine tune.
Customer Review: Total JUNK!
Replacing an older RM-AV3000, I just got the RM-AX4000. Programming is not very intuitive. Finally got through it though. One of the steps is to press "learn", where one is directed to press (for example), the "play" button on a DVD remote. The normal operation is that one presses the button for a few seconds, and then "learning complete" appears. Sometimes, however, it takes ten or fifteen seconds, or (worse), one *immediately* receives a message that no signal has been received. After going through this half a dozen times, I called Sony and and spent 4.5 hours on hold. I finally found that if I darkened the room completely, things went better. Tonight, I noticed that if I select (for example) channel 2-4-0, I get channel 2-4-000, or if I select 2-3-1, I get 2-33-1. Just gave up! This thing is going back.

LG 55LH90 55-Inch 1080p 240Hz LED Backlit LCD HDTV, Glossy Black with Blue

55" LED LCD HDTV, 1920 x 1080 Resolutoin, 240 Hz, 2,000,000:1 Contrast Ratio, ATSC/NTSC/Clear QAM - 1 Tuner, SRS TruSurround XT, 4 HDMI input
Customer Review: Amazing TV
I have been watching LED LCD TV's for some time, and was patiently waiting for a local retailer to bring this in store so I could see it. Finally, I decided to order it sight unseen. Best decision I made. The picture is unbelievable. It also has a setup that walks you through each element of the calibration. Finally, it autosenses which inputs are active so when you cycle through it lists those first. If you have been waiting for an LED TV that features local dimming, wait no more. This is the TV for you.
Customer Review: This TV is awesome!
This TV is Beautiful. It has deep colors and superior picture. The only drawback is the standby power indicator can be quite bright. But the movies shown on this TV from my Blu-ray are just phenomenal! The 240Hz make the picture sharp during fast motion. The blacks are deep and true, not grey. Why it's not included in a certain retailers 'Magnolia' section is beyond belief. Bottom line is this TV is georgeous!

Customer Review: Three Years Old And Still Happy
In it's day this was a very advanced high end receiver. It was the second wave of HDMI switchers, at an affordable price point - not $3,000. Today, these sale prices make this receiver an amazing deal. What does it do well - pure clear sound. Beautiful upscaling of all video input. Smooth clean switching of sources. And my Vinyl has never sounded better. Yes it has a true Phono input with really great eq for vinyl. What doesn't it do so well - those extra zones (2 and 3), they are just complicated to use with almost no display. The manual isn't the easiest to understand. What do you get - Video: 2 HDMI's in, 1 output. A ton of component, S, and composite video in (I think there are 6 sets of all three). All will upconvert to around 720p, and handsomely I might add, through the HDMI output. DVD's look fabulous from this receiver (disable the on board upconversion of the DVD player). Audio: 6 SPDIF fiber optic inputs (all video or audio inputs can be mapped to any of these inputs, except HDMI). Phono, for moving magnet, not ceramic cartridge. Tape loops for two different decks. And an XM antenna input. A very sensitive FM / AM tuner. Speakers, pretty standard mix here, A/B sets of center, right, left, rear left, rear right, effect left and effect right. Two sub LFE line outputs. And the whole zone 2 and 3 outputs. The setup is a bit tricky. Since there are all these optical inputs, mapping can get a bit complex. Once that's all finished and you've gotten used to the user interface, it's time to balance the speakers. The supplied microphone and test cycle are incredible. It takes about 5 minutes to totally tune everything - frequency response and volume setting for every channel, including the sub. Everything sounds glorious after that set up is run. One thing to note, if you do use a second zone. Anything digital (optical or HDMI) will be passed along digital to the second zone. If you connect your CD player up via optical, you'll never hear it in the second zone. A minor issue, but worth understanding. I really love this receiver. Have loved it since the day I first installed it. The only negative I have to say today, it needs more HDMI ports. At the time, 2 was huge. There was no PS3, no TiVO HD, and DVD players with HDMI were pricey and rare. Today, 2 is a bit slim. But component video is very nicely upscaled with this unit, and in a pinch that will work well. And the power - wow. I've had it up to around 5dB a couple of times, and I think you could hear it down the block. Normal sound level is more like -20 or -30dB. I have this paired with MK speakers and a Velodyne sub. At today's price point, this is an outstanding deal. You can't touch anything this good at the current price.
Customer Review: Good only for two years.
Got mine in Amazon on July, '06. All was fine until a few weeks ago, when the HDMI-out port died. With my components all HDMI-based, losing that port was tantamount to losing the product. I replaced the receiver with a Denon, and all clicked again. Working now with Yamaha to get their receiver fixed - will report here how that went.

Customer Review: Good product
I have used the TV for over a month, and is satisfied with the product.
Customer Review: Grat picture
Excellent picture from this unit, with lots of HDMI, component, and composite video inputs. Viewing angle is excellent, and the automatic brightness adjustment works well. This unit does a good job on handling standard (480i) inputs. The stretch mode will adjust a 480i picture to the size of the screen, maintaining the 4:3 ratio (i.e. black bars on the sides). The zoom mode is appropriate for letterboxed DVDs and movies, and enlarges the letterbox to fill the screen, again maintaining the original aspect ratio. There are some additional stretching mdoes, including a "smart stretch" mode that pulls out the sides of a 4:3 image to fill the 16:9 screen without distorting the center of the image. Works fairly well, but not certain I'd use it. For higher quality inputs, the available stretching modes are dynamically adjusted to a set appropriate for the input. I'l update further once I have more experience with them. I've got a A/V system to handle the audio, so I have no comments there. One minor annoyance is that TV displays "No appropriate audio signal found" whenever the input or picture mode is changed. Well, duh. I haven't found a way to suppress that message yet.
